A mixed Rally Bag

At the Ottawa Kennel Club Rally Trials on November 25-26, 2023, Pickles finished her Rally Excellent Titles under Shelly Lyck (scores 80 and 97) and Pat Hunt (score 94). She went on to earn a bonus leg under Pat (score 95).

The following weekend on December 03, 2013, at the North Gower Dog Clun Trials, she aqueaked a fifth leg under a very generous Deana Abbott (score 70)

Syracuse Obedience Training Club Rally Trials, Syracuse NY - September 15-16, 2023

It wasn't pretty but thanks to generous judging Pickles completed her AKC Rally Advanced Titled with a 96 under Joyce Rienzo and a 93 (including one station redo) under Robin Botelho!!

Club Agilite St Lazare - Agility Trials - St Lazare - September 10, 2023, Judge Carole Cote

To say it was "by the skin of her teeth" is a gross understatement but Pickles managed to squeak a Q in Standard Novice thanks to my 3 second bonus as a senior handler. Her detours were many but she did eventually perform each obstacle in the right order and direction.
Her Q in Points & Distance was somewhat better though far from spectacular.

Border Terrier Club of America National Specialty and Associated Events, June 10-16, 2023

From hero to zero and back agin (twice)!!!

Pickles earned her FastCAT BCAT title in five runs plus a bonus run prior to which she managed to dremel her back nails to the quick scrabbling on the concrete while waiting her turn!!!

Her Novice B Standard agility run was a disaster but her Novice B JWW agility run was lovely and completed her NAJ title under judge Craig Josling.
In the Rally Ring her performance in Rally Advanced B did not deserve the 73 she received from a very kind Jamie Jo Sieveking

Syracuse Obedience Training Club, The Central New York Family Sports Centre, Syracuse, NY - May 05-07, 2023

Pickles picked up 2 Novice JWW Q’s with two first places despite some bad cross choices on my part (again).

But she really struggled with her standard runs. Totally freaked by a colored broad jump in her first standard attaempt and balking at the dog walk (second obstacle) in her second run. We scrathed from the third run, no point in rehearsing errors.
It was a great venue.

German Shorthair Pointer Club of America Agility Trials, SOTC Hall, Syracuse, NY - March 25-26, 2023

Pickles picked up 2 Novice Standard Q’s but her JWW runs were a sharp reminder once more that I really need to up my handling skills if I am going to do her justice.
At least running Standard, the Dog Walk, A-frame, Table and Teeter allow my brain to catch up with her legs.
But JWW offers no such respite and my clumsiness resulted in off courses in both runs.

Belleville & District KC Rally Trials, Belleville, ON - March 18-19, 2023

Pickles started and finished her CKC Rally Advanced Title in a way that I could not have imagined
She scored 98 (3rd place) and 100 (1st place) under sweet heart of a judge Susan Bell on Saturday.
On Sunday, she finished her title with 100 (2nd place) under, new to me but definitely recommended, judge Shelly Lyck.
She topped this off with a bonus leg scoring 97 (3rd place) also under Shelly.
Great trials, great venue and great French Fries which we shared after leg # 4!!!

The Lord Mayor's Show and the muck cart - Red Barn Event Centre - February 19th, 2023

Pickles finished her CKC Novice JWW title in "style".
As always, the Red Barn Event Centre did an awesome job and Wendy Beard's novice courses flowed beautifully.
Pickles' first run was flawless, she sailed round in 31.62 (without my old age allowance), SCT was 46.
Her second run was a different story!
Someone who shall be nameless didn't have the courage to do an obvious rear cross and attempted a ridiculous front cross.
It would have resulted in an off course except for Pickles slamming on the brakes at the last minute (she had "make up your b****y mind" written all over her face!!!).
Despite that and two bobbled off side weave attempts, she ran clear.
Rumour has it she will be sending her inept handler for remedial training before attempting Open!!!

Syracuse Obedience Training Club Trials, Syracuse - November 18-19, 2022

Competing in Rally Novice B, Pickles was pretty much on form (for Pickles). On Friday she Q'd with a score of 100 and second place under very generous judge Linda Ferrullo. On Saturday, she Q'd with a 98 and 4th place under very efficient judge Denise Lacroix. Denise's course really flowed well.

Great venue I would go back to in a heartbeat but preferable not in winter!!!!

Simcoe Performance Dog CKC Agility Trials, Barrie - November 06, 2022

WOW!!!

Pickles' "warm up" run in Novice JWW turned into a qualifying run with just one off course. Her first time doing straight weaves anywhere other than home (and she is far from perfect there).
Her Jumps and Tunnels run wasn't the prettiest with a couple of refusals (bad handling on my part) but she got the job done to earn her JT title.

New England Earthdog Extravaganza, Brimfield, MA - October 1-2, 2022

Pickles was thrilled to be doing what she does best. She earned her AWTA Certificate of Gameness under Cariier Hamilton and her second JE leg to complete her AKC Junior Earthdog Title under Nancy Sankus.

The site was exceptional and the people friendly. Great to see some newbies doing well with their dogs.

So it wasn't a fluke!!! Kingston & District KC Agility Trials, Harrowsmith, ON - September 25, 2022

Despite doing one zoomie, Pickles was focused enough to earn her second Jumps and Tunnels Q with a first place under judge Sherri Gourlie.

Miracle do Happen!!! CAC St. Lazare CKC Agility Trials, St. Lazare, QC - September 11, 2022

Pickles gave a glimpse of what she is capable of and earned her first Jumps and Tunnels Q under judge Marie-Noelle Cote

BTC Specialty Weekend, Long Sault - August 26, 2022 thru August 28, 2022

Pickles had a great 4 days. In the BTC Specialty she was Best Working and Award of Merit under judge Rosemary Shormean. She won her clas under judge Jane Shaw in the BTCO Specialty. At the Rideau Terrier Specialty (judge Elizardo Valadez) and the regular show (judge David Swartwood) on Saturday she was Reserve Winners bitch.

She finally broke the streak and was Winners Bitch for a 3-point major on Sunday under judge Peggy Gutierrez-Otero. This gave her the points she needed to finish her CKC Championship!!!

Thousand Islands Kennel Club, North Augusta - August 18, 2022 thru August 20, 2022

Pickles managed to pick up one more point under judge Wera Hubenthal, going head to head with Lorek

Finger Lakes Kennel Club ED Tests, Candor, NY - July 23-24 - judge D'Arcy Downs-Vollbracht

After breaking work in her first two attempts, Pickles decided to stay with the quarry and earned her first AKC Junior Leg.
Despite being major distracted, she also passed her Novice Trick Dog Test under evaluator Lini Federici

2022 BTCA National Specialty successes, Wilmington OH, June 12-14, 2022

Pickles had her own take on Earthdog on the Sunday and in Agility on the Monday. But somehow managed to pass her Canine Good Citizen Test. On Tuesday she put in an amusing and frustrating performance in Rally Novice but, thanks to generosity of Katie Maess, Q'd with a 91 and 4th place

Done and dusted with a bonus: Peterborough and District Obedience Club Trials, May 14th, Ennismore, ON

Pickles finished her CKC Rally Novice title with a 97 and second place under judge Kate Darbyshire.
Moved up to Intermediate in the afternoon she Q'd with a 96 and another second place, also under Kate!

Continuing the one point at a time approach, Victoria County Kennel Club shows, April 29, 20, May 01, Lindsay, ON

Pickles took Winners Bitch in four of the five shows, it might have been more but there were absentees.
Judges who gave her the nod were: Donna Conad, Pat and Mike Lanctot, and Sylvia Barkey.

Every point counts, Champlain Dog Club shows, April 14-17

In her debut as an adult, Pickles picked up two single points under judges Lee Steeves and Elaine Whitney. Baby steps but important ones.

Two days, two events (600 plus km apart), two successes! - April 10-11, 2022

On April 10th, Pickles made her CKC Rally debut at the LDTA Trials under judge Del Lunn picking up two Q's in Novice B. It wasn't pretty (88 and 85) and certainly didn't represent what she is capable of, but a Q is a Q.

On April 11th, she competed in CKC Sprinter at the Red Barn and "scorched" the track to earn her Novice Sprinter title. No question which event she preferred.

Kudos to LDTA and The Red Barn for incredibly well run events and the sincerest of thanks to Sprinter chauffeur and catcherc Chris Dyer.

Border Terrier Canada & Border Terrier Club of Ontario Earthdog Tests - October 24, 2021

Wow! Pickles demolished a dowel on her way to her CKC Junior Earthdog title on Sunday morning under judge Pamela Burns and added a bonus leg in the afternoon under judge Jane McLoughlin.

Gable Ridge BHA Barn Hunt Trials - September 11, 2021

Still a pup at just 9-1/2 months old, Pickles completed her BHA Novice barn Hunt title in fine style under [very pleasant] judge Karen McClean.

Dachshund Club of Greater Ontario ED Trials - August 28-29, 2021

This girl is all about instinct. First attempt at a junior tunnel resulted in her first junior leg under judge Michael Pitisci. A promising start to her earthdog career.

Gable Ridge BHA Barn Hunt Trials - July 10-11, 2021

At just 7-1/2 months of age, Pickles not only aced her BHA Instinct title but earned her first Novice leg. Of course, that might have been a bit of a fluke as we bombed out on the next 3 runs. But she is still a baby and we are learning together.
