December - One more trip then Christmas Cometh

Yep, Digger, Boomer and I squeezed in one more trip, this time to Fred & Marnie's in Ottawa with a side trip to Carp where Digger earned his CKC PCD Title bring his title total for the year to four!

Celebrating birthdays in December:
Sarah Jones Rollie and Penny McCain's Casey who turned 9
The Scrimmage - Roger pups Colin (Donna Sapp), Hazel (Anna Robaczewski), Bindi (Kathy Acosta) and Teddy (Ines Wessman) who reached the teenage milestone of 13
And not forgetting, Dot (Penny McCain), Bonus (Dora Labrie), Baxter (Derek Logan) and sibling Nike who all turned 12!

Digger's cousin, Scipio, came for a three-week stay in the middle of December and what an amazing house guest he has proven to be, a credit to his breed and his owners.

Jenny drove up with Daisy for Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed their visit, we sincerely hope that the New Year will bring a treatable diagnosis of Daisy's health issues.

Sadly, the year ended on a heartbreaking note with the sudden, devastating loss of Barb Ryan's beloved Midge, one of the "Magnificent Seven".
Barb summed it up best: " A horrible end to a horrible year"

Scipio and Digger are making the best of each other's company

They are both very good boys, and not bad looking!

Looks like the cousins have a bit of a "Bromance" brewing

November - Here, There and Everywhere

A busy month indeed! Digger, Boomer and I started off with a visit to Jenny Chambers in VT for the Burlington Obedience Training Club trials where Digger earned two more AKC RAE legs and Boomie earned her AKC BN Title
Less than 2 weeks later we were off to Halifax with Jocelyne for Anna's craft shows. Two provincial parks were a nice bonus.
The weekend after we got home from Halifax it was west to Isobel's for Digger's agility debut, he was awesome
While we were gallivanting around, Simon and Shari's Parker Posy hit double digits celebrating her 10th birthday and Isobel's Finlay reached half that number with 5th birthday festivities.

October - A time to celebrate

Fourteen is not "old" for a Border Terrier, but to have all seven siblings in a litter still enjoying the simple pleasures of life at this age is a wonderful milestone and something to be thankful for, especially in light of some heartbreaking losses earlier this year.
Like all our “pups”, the 2002 Tripper/Iseabail litter have been blessed with owners who stay in touch, keeping me updated with good news and, equally important, the not so good news. Owners who always do right by them and who do everything they can to make each day count. No breeder could ask for more.
So, without further ado...Happy 14th Birthday to the magnificent seven (born October 16th, 2002):

September - A splendid month indeed!!!

Although it might not have been true throughout the range of the Jansim family, here in Quebec September was a spectacular foretaste of fall splendour.

This month started with the Scrapper - Tank "pups":Loki, Digger, Keltic and Abbey, celebrating their first birthday. Loki was able to celebrate with her dad and her brother; Digger

Out in Alberta, Zeke became the first Border Terrier to earn the new CKC Chase Ability Program CAX title and he is possibly the oldest dog of any breed to do so.

The dogs and I also made a short, but oh so sweet, trip to visist Mark, Michele and Tank. She is one happy, lucky girl

Zeke storming his way to a new title with enthusiasm that belies his thirteen years.

Boomer and Robyn chez Mark & Michele - doing something they would never do at home, peacefully sharing a sofa!

Midge and Abbey enjoying their shore vacation. Though it looks a tad chilly to contemplate a dip in the ocean.

...and possibly not much warmer in Essex where Geordie pauses on a blustery beach walk to pose for the camera

August - The Dog Days of Summer....

...but filled with more ups and downs.

The month started with a sad goodbye as Jacqueline released Tristan from the bond he would not break no matter how much he needed to.

Chris and Jeff's Sophie underwent cyber knife treatment for her glioma so now we wait and hope.

Freddie, Hermit, Tumnus and Maisie (NB) celebrated their 8th birthday - where has the time gone?

I was able to cross Acadia off Boomer's bucket list by combining a trip to Maine with a judging assignment in MA

And last but not least several JJ members attended the BTC/BTCO Specialties in Long Sault, Ontario at the end of the month.

Sleep well Tristan, you will be missed but forever loved

Sophie recovering from treatment and ready for the good times to come.

Dora's Ivy got to burn off energy romping with Digger in Maine on our way to David and Lisa's

Boomer and Digger taking in the sights and sea air in Acadia National Park, ME

Time for late night potty trip after an awesome day out. Their enthusiasm speaks volumes!

Mark's new boat gets the Tank seal of approval, she looks every part the seasoned sea dog.

Felek did great at the shows finishing his CKC Championship and earning his Junior Earthdog Title

...as did Scrapper, earning his CKC Rally Novice Title and finishing his Junior Earthdog Title

July - Another Roller Coaster Month

Three of the Tripper/Iseabail 13+ year-old "pups" have shown some neurological symptoms. Geordie (UK) and Boomer being very similar, Sophie (PA) somewhat different. Sophie has been diagnosed with a slow growing glioma and will receive cyber knife treatment in August. For Georie and Boomie it is wait and watch.

Zeke, Maisie and Finlay all discovered a passion for the new CKC Chase Ability Program

Tank, ever the opportunist, packed her travel bag and headed off to join Mark and Michele. Rumour has is their "much bigger than ours" fifthwheel, a new boat, and no more musical dogs were the icing on the cake

The Felek/Willow kids, Ivy and Scout celebrated their first birthday in July and Pippa's Rupert marked his second birthday in style.

Tank, totally stressed out by the move to Massachusetts - NOT

...and Boomer looks devastated by her departure, not so much!

Hazel and Boomer finally get their outing to the Hot Dog Cafe

Boomer had a great time at the St. Lazare Agility Club picnic...

...and even got to play some games. The tunnel one was her favourite

Geordie (UK) enjoying a lovely evening at the beach

Zeke has rediscovered his passion for lure coursing

...and for Maisie, it is a newly discovered passion

June - An incredible milestone, farewell to a grand dame and a successful specialty

Sadly, on June 8th, Scrimmage, the grand old dame of Lothlorien, took her leave of us and her failing body. Her legacy will live on through her progeny and their progeny.

Just one day later on June 9th, Jacqueline's beloved Tristan celebrated his 19th Birthday.

The sadness and celebration were quickly followed by a successful BTCA National Specialty for many JJ Group members.

Scrimmage, she lived long and well

Happy 19th birthday Tristan!

Boomie and her loot, she had a grand time....

...supervising the goings on, especially the food ...

...and strutting her stuff in the obedience ring

Gremlin enjoying an evening stroll, slow but sure.

May - Trying to find sunshine amongst the heartache

Unable to fight back from the devastating impact of a ruptured gall bladder, Higgs slipped away on his 13th birthday, cradled in David's arms with Lisa beside him. His brother Zeke marked his birthday with a sombre celebration in Calgary with Mel & Marion.

On May 10th, Pip lost his battle with glioblastoma leaving Mark and Michele dogless for the first time in 30 years.

The impact of these losses on their families is just too hard to imagine. Both dogs have been honored with Rainbow Bridge Slide Shows

In recognition of "The dog at our side...", May birthdays were celebrated by Robyn "a.k.a. the Whippety Thing" who turned 8; Florida Donna's Fiona - a mere youngster at 6, and Gwen's good boy Declan at 9 years old.

Lisa and I took Robyn for a slightly belated birthday breakfast at the Hot Dog Cafe. Robyn's table manners are definitely not up to Tank and Boomer's standards.I

Chris' cousin Sue came to visit from Spain and the dogs were quick to take advantage. Boomer and Digger found they could both fit on the comfy chair with a bit of "Sue squishing"!

April - Spring has finally sprung - maybe!!!

If April showers bring May flowers what do April snow storms bring???

JJ family and friends dogs Celebrating birthdays in April: Sensei who turned 13 and Pipit who "might" be maturing now that she is 5!

Weather not withstanding, April has been a month of incredible ongoing challenge and devastating news for some wonderful JJ members.

David and Lisa's beloved Higgs underwent two emergency surgeries for a ruptured gall bladder and blocked ducts. At month's end he is still struggling to regain his health.

Meanwhile, Mark and Michele's Pip, one of the sweetest Borders you could ever wish to meet (unless you are a varmint) was diagnosed with an aggressive and inoperable brain tumour. Just so very unfair.

April showers, Gryzia, on extended vacation with Richard and Andrea, sports a spiffy raincoat, such a good sport!

Logan on vacation chez Jansim while his "mom" takes a well earned holiday in the sun said "goodbye" to his winter coat.

Higgs, so happy to be going home but such a long and uncertain road ahead

Pip, home from "The Pip & Peeps Love and Laughter Tour of 2016" doing what dogs do best...

...living in the moment, with wonderful owners who are making every moment count

March - Not too much madness!!!

Sometimed called the "longest" month of the winter because spring is so close you can almost taste but then....

Celebrating birthdays in March: Geordie (NS), Touzie, Tank and Bramble hitting official veteran status (as if); Gryzia the "baby" of the month at four; Gator, and Ida at 11 and 10 respectively. Three new teenagers in Daisy Tinker and Molly. With fond memories of Sophie and Peter.

Remembering Lyn...

...and Anna F.

Tank celebrating her birthday at the Hot Dog Cafe. Her table manners were excellent.

Grandma Hazel and grandson Digger - a pair of woollies, they know winter is not done

Boomer studiously ignored all Felek's attempts to be sweet so he gave up and went to sleep

Fells and Colin obviously have different viewpoints on whether it is spring in Maryland

Midge in Pennsylvania has no doubt however, and looks very dapper in her spring jacket.

Maine is still very much a question mark so Ivy makes the best of a patch od spring sunshine.

February - Turning out to be the coldest month of the year....so far

Digger's cousin Logan came for a play date and a great time was had by both

There is a lot more spring in 13 year-old Boomer's step than in the weather

Tank is convinced that a mouse might have come in with the logs, Robyn not so much!

After the unseasonably warm spell in January that spilled over into Februaray and saw a lot of the snow disaapear, "The wheels fell off" in time for St.Valentines day with plummeting temperatures.
Consequently, the need for indoor entertainment resulted in amusing (and sometimes bemusing) BT antics

Celebrating birthdays in February were: Pip, Maisie, Dundee and Teazle who hit double digits; Ellie at 12 years old; Bumble who became a teenager; and Jinx and Karma who became official (albeit very young) veterans. Their milestone birthday did of course bring back the heartache of the loss of their sister Mimi.

Finlay hard at work searching for......

....got it! His favourite ball!!

Boomer and Digger have grown much closer through the tedium of winter

Ivy looking lovely and working on a dinasaur to help the "changing of the teeth"

It is too soon to know if Scout will have a show career but there is no harm in practicing

January - Taking Care of Business and dealing with winter

We started the year by taking care of some veterinary "business".
Tank was spayed and Boomer had some lumps and bumps removed.
They were both done the same day and in recovery was the first (and likely last) time they have been able to share the same space without trying to take each other out since 2010!

They both bounced back very quickly and are ready for whatever adventures 2016 brings.

Snuggy warm, Boomer's turn for the Bair Hugger (Tank was the first "under the knife")

Look out Tank! Boomer's coming round. (Tank was responsive but too comfortable to move)

Robyn and Tank
Whippets are OK to lie on, albeit a bit bony...

Molly and Fia
...come to think of it, they make better foot stools!!

Gryzia
Of course, some dogs are "above" mingling in such company!

While Canadians enjoyed unseasonably warm temperatures (for the most part) and less than usual snow fall, many of our friends to the south got hammered with another snowmageddon .

Celebrating birthdays in January were: Lexi and Simon who turned 14 and Felek who celebrated his 3rd birthday with steak

Rain, snow, wind or sleet, Archie in Ottawa has all the bases covered, albeit a bit reluctantly

"Hey! Either let us in or get out here and finish the shovelling" Colin and Fells in Maryland were not amused.

Eighteen year-old Tristan has a much more laid back approach to Winter in England

As does two year-old Digger in Quebec, stuggling to keep his eyes open!!

Same for three year-old Felek in Nova Scotia. Nothing quite like conserving one's energy
