Another Birthday! "this 'n that", den trials galore and saying "goodbye"

After a whole slew of birthdays in April, May started off in a similar vein, but May 9th saw a "biggy". Jenny celebrated the occasion of being seventy years young!

Capturing the "youthful essence"! (Thank goodness they passed on the candles!)

Anticipation - it would take more than a few rain drops to spoil this moment

A special birthday deserves a special gift and special memories (ask Jenny).

May saw the first CKC Earthdog Test to be held in Eastern Canada. It was hosted by the Border Terrier Club of Ontario at the Valens Conservation Area. Marg Pough was one of the judges and the event was well supported by JJ BT's. Heavy rain storms over the weekend meant bailing the Intro earth on Sunday and a fair amount of innovative work on Monday.
The resulting conditions may have deterred many of the novice dogs but Henry and Django turned in very promising performances. The Junior dogs did well with the exception of Gunter who had a senior moment and stopped working to wag his tail at the quarry!

The last weekend in May/first week in June was the New Jersey Beanfield Earthdog week. Intrepid campers at Village Green Farm included Jenny, Karen and myself - amongst the day visitors were Chris M. and Donna S.

Yet another opportunity for getting together occurred in the middle of June at the Dachshund Club of Greater Ontario CKC Earthdog Test

However, June was a month of sadness as well as success. Fred and Marnie had to say goodbye to their beloved Penny. She was a special girl in so many ways. Click here to read Penny's memorium.

It seems like yesterday!

Olden years! Golden years!

Loving a dog enough to "let them go" has many meanings - most are tearful but not all are sad.
Hi all
It is with slightly mixed emotion that I announce that Indy is moving. She will be joining a family to become the official "Bed Dog/Junior Showmanship/Agility and Obedience dog" for a young girl named Lauren. Lauren, her Mom Tonya and her Dad (whose name I never asked - oops) live in Oklahoma and have Labs. Lauren is looking forward to Indy's arrival and we figure that if Lauren and Indy have it their way, Indy will sleep on Lauren's bed from Night One!
