Marg & Jenny (MnJ) with Borders Lark, Devlin, Daisy and Teddy

September 14, 2008

Mel, Marion and Medrick (a.k.a The 3M's - CB call name "Sticky") were the first to "hit the road", heading out from Alberta down into Montana

Ready for the road!

Day 1 - 264 miles

September 15, 2008

Jenny with Daisy and Teddy are headed to Marg's via Jansim home base to drop off "stuff" and have a pre-trip get-together with friends.

The 3Ms head further into Montana

Jenny - Day 1 - 128 miles

3Ms - Day 2 - 281 miles

Chief Joseph memorial in Ryegate, MT

Billings, MT - part of!!!!!

Looking across the Yellowstone River near the campground outside Billings

September 16, 2008

Jenny, Daisy and Teddy leave for Marg's after Brunch.

The 3Ms leave Montana and enter Wyoming

Meanwhile Gwen, Marg and the Dyers finish packing while JoAnn unpacks from her trip to Poland and starts packing for Texas

Jenny - Day 2 - 329 miles

3Ms - Day 3 - 277 miles

Wyoming - we think!!!

More Wyoming????

Definitele Wyoming - not so sure about the "wildlife"!!!

September 17, 2008

Chris & Pam (BBC) head for Orchard Park, New York and meet up with Jenny & Marg (MnJ). Gwen starts off on a two day trek to Louisville, JoAnn finishes packing and Mel & Marion drive to Castle Rock, CO

BBC Day 1 - 464 miles

MnJ - Day 2 - 160 miles

3Ms - Day 4 - 306 miles

Wyoming rest stops: self explanatory? 3Ms saw at least three with this design

All also had dumps for RVs. Texas could follow their example.

Peace and tranquility at Castle Rock (if you ignore the nearby trains) after 3Ms traverse Denver during rush hour.

September 18, 2008

BBC and JoAnn meet up in Walton, KY while MnJ stop in Cincinnati, Gwen spends the night in Louisville and the 3Ms make it to Clayton NM

Gwen - Day 1 - 740 miles

3Ms - Day 5 - 274 miles

BBC Day 2 - 464 miles

MnJ - Day 3 - 431 miles

JoAnn -Day 1 - 621 miles

End of the day at Clayton, NM after 3Ms drove through the storm (a real lollapalooza) and had it catch up with them at Clayton and carry on its merry way.

3Ms make a detour around the Spanish Peaks and other assorted igneous intrusions by way of a 9900 ft. pass - unfortunately without an elevation sign.

After weathering the storm and dealing with detours and "high altitudes", Medrick has a well deserved sleep in.

September 19, 2008

The 3Ms are hopefully in Vernon TX by end of day while the East coast contingent converged on West Memphis, AR

3Ms - Day 6 - 307 miles

BBC - Day 3 - 475 miles

BBC cross yet another river...

..and enter yet another state

Sun sets over the 3Ms campground at Vernon, TX and the busy Walmart parking lot next door.

September 20, 2008

As planned we met up with the 3Ms at the KOA campground outside of Hillsboro, TX. and an unplanned but nice bonus was having the motel contingent also stay at the campground in one of the cabins

3Ms - Day 7 - 225 miles

BBC - Day 4 - 519 miles

Medrick taking advantage of boring scenery to catch a few more Zzzz's

That would be one of umpteen spaghetti junctions observed as 3Ms pass through Fort Worth, not around it as map indicates.

"Circle the wagons" - KOA campground north of Waco

September 21, 2008

We all made it safely to the Triple Crown Dog Academy - though the BBC took an "interesting shortcut" courtesy of the GPS

JJ and friends convoy - 116.61 miles

Welcome to "the year of the Rat" - BTCA Style

September 22, 2008

Agility day and a chance to settle in

Medrick looks quite settled in for a social evening.

Which includes a wonderful spread courtesy of Sunkist and friends

A time for light hearted laughter...

...and deep discussions

...a spectacular end to a great day

September 23, 2008

Earthdog day with Intro success for Teazle.

What a wonderful table piece for a BT Specialty

Awards time and lots of smiles

September 24, 2008

September 25, 2008

Medrick catching a snooze

Teddy cadging some food

September 26, 2008

The Start of breed judging - a great placement for Lark and wonderful win for Medrick

Grandma, mom, dad and the "kids" - three generations in harmony

Cute as a button at seven weeks, one of the seven "dwarfs"

Teddy makes a nice picture on the table

...and struts his stuff for the judge

Teazle however is less than impressed

Now its Medrick's turn

A very emotional win
(click for video clip)

...time to rest on his laurels

September 27, 2008

Completion of Breed Judging and Medrick takes his leave in great style and to much applause

Medrick - "THE MAN" - and he knows it.

"Back on the Road Again" - wishing everyone a safe trip home and see you in Maryland, 2009

The Lone Star State
